Characteristics:
- Eukaryotic, which means that it has a nucleus
- Mostly filamentous
- Made from hyphae
- Protoplasm is surrounded by a rigid wall
- No chlorophyll
- Lots of storage compounds
- Mostly multicellular; some are unicellular
- They have a membrane around the nucleus.
- They absorb and digest the surface they live on to gain energy.
- They reproduce by spore.
